Meet the team

Meet Betelhem Sisay Gebregiorgis, our Junior Communications Manager!

Betelhem, one of our working students, first joined Brandenburg Labs as an intern. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication and a master’s degree in Public Relations and Strategic Communication from Addis Ababa University. Currently, she is pursuing a master’s in Global Communication: Politics and Society at the University of Erfurt.

Betelhem has always been passionate about journalism and media. During her bachelor’s, she did multiple internships in various media outlets in Ethiopia, where she acquired valuable experiences in the field.

At the beginning of her career, she taught media and communication studies in a higher education institution in Ethiopia. This led her to broaden her interest in education and communication science research. Consequently, she moved to Germany to pursue a second master’s degree, which mainly deals with media systems and communication cultures in international comparison.

Betelhem, as a working student here at Brandenburg Labs, contributes her expertise in Public Relations and Social Media Management. She likes BLS’s interactive and diverse casual office atmosphere, which fosters creativity and friendship.

She is a quick learner, which helps her grasp the necessary skills to complete a given task fast and efficiently. One of Betelhem’s strongest suits is being very creative and highly motivated at work. She is never afraid to take on new challenges.

She envisions herself pursuing a higher level of education in her field, journalism, and communication. In the near future, Betelhem wants to develop more digital media skills to perform efficiently and effectively.

Betelhem likes to cook, clean, read books, and binge on Netflix, watching funny/thriller TV shows in her leisure time.

Fun fact: Betelhem has Zoophobia – fear of animals, although she owns pets and is looking into adopting more.
