Welcome to Brandenburg Labs

Shaping the future of audio technology

At Brandenburg Labs, we strive to create cutting-edge audio technology that is inspired by how we listen to the world. We make immersive audio for headphones as intuitive as real life, enabling everyone to dive deep into any soundscape.

Therefore, we have developed the perfect lifelike audio experience over headphones. Our technology simulates how sound propagates in the real world, making it indistinguishable from reality.

Together with our partners, we are working towards achieving a perfect auditory illusion, especially via headphones.

As a spin-off of Technische Universität Ilmenau and the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology, Brandenburg Labs builds on decades of audio research and the expertise of our founder, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Karlheinz Brandenburg, best known as co-inventor of mp3.

Okeanos Pro – Our solution for audio professionals

Experience Multichannel Sound Over Headphones Like Never Before!

Okeanos Pro is Brandenburg Labs' first state-of-the-art headphone-based system, powered by our groundbreaking Deep Dive Audio (DDA) technology. Designed for audio professionals and institutions that demand precision and flexibility, it’s the ideal solution for research and innovation labs, audio engineers and producers, as well as universities and training programs focused on spatial audio. By simulating advanced multichannel loudspeaker setups through headphones, Okeanos Pro enables users to reduce costs, save space, and still enjoy full immersion, even in environments where physical loudspeaker setups are impractical. With its seamless pick-up-and-play usability, and high-fidelity, realistic sound reproduction, it delivers studio-grade performance without the complexity or cost of traditional hardware.

Where to meet us next

We are continuously updating our event schedule here, more events for 2025 soon to be announced.

AES Europe 2026 Convention - Intelligent Audio, Copenhagen, Denmark, May 28–30, 2026

We look forward to joining the global audio community at the 160th Audio Engineering Society (AES) Convention in Copenhagen. This flagship event brings together audio professionals, researchers, educators, and enthusiasts to explore the latest developments in intelligent and immersive audio technologies.

At the convention, Brandenburg Labs will present its pioneering Deep Dive Audio technology, an advanced system that reproduces virtual sound sources through headphones with such precision and spatial realism that they become indistinguishable from real sound sources.

If you’re attending the show and would like to experience our Deep Dive Audio demo, feel free to reach out to us at info@brandenburg-labs.com. We look forward to engaging with fellow audio enthusiasts and professionals at this exciting event!

Brandenburg Labs is delighted to participate in the TU Ilmenau Science Night, hosted by TU Ilmenau, a unique event combining science, technology, and culture. The evening will feature experimental lectures, laboratory tours, and interactive hands-on activities, offering visitors the opportunity to engage directly with scientists, researchers, and innovative companies. Attendees can explore cutting-edge research and gain insights into the strong scientific and industrial landscape of Thuringia.

At our booth, visitors will be invited to experience a live demonstration of our immersive audio technology and learn more about the fundamental research behind our work. Further details will be announced closer to the event. Stay tuned.
