Meet the team

Meet  Erin Driscoll, our Intern!

Erin is our newest Intern from Rochester, New York, United States. Her passion for music and audio started when she was young. As a result, she took multiple courses in piano and music.

Erin holds two bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Piano (respectively) from the University of New Hampshire, which she completed in 2019. She pursued her piano degree out of passion, even though she doesn’t consider it a career choice for herself.

Erin has a big heart for performing and listening to music in concerts and auditoriums. She gets curious about why the sound comes out good or bad in these kinds of music spaces.

Her curiosity and interest in acoustics, mathematics, and engineering led her to pursue a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Rochester. Currently, Erin is conducting her Ph.D. studies in electrical and computer engineering (Acoustics and Audio Signal Processing) at the same university.

As an Intern at Brandenburg Labs, Erin has been improving her skills in machine learning implementation and practicing software and coding tools that are helpful in the implementation of her project. She has been a great addition to our Research and Development team.

Erin greatly appreciates the good team spirit at BLS while indulging herself in outdoor activities such as climbing and hiking with colleagues who share the same interests as her.

Furthermore, Erin believes that a collaborative working approach allows teams to improve how they solve problems and work together towards one goal in the most efficient and sustainable way possible while fostering communication and innovation. In this regard, she is highly motivated and a great team player. One of her best professional traits is staying focused until she solves the problem at hand and accomplishes a given task.

In the future, Erin aspires to take part in interesting projects and continue learning new skills in her field. She envisions herself taking on new courses in coding and software development.

Erin likes to immerse himself in outdoor activities when she is not working. As an outdoors person moving to Ilmenau, Germany offers her a unique chance to hike in the beautiful Thuringia forests. Erin also likes road biking, running, climbing, playing and listening to western classical music, and cooking and trying out new recipes.

Fun fact: Erin is an animal lover. While doing an internship in Iceland, she was introduced to Icelandic fluffy sheeps and fell in love with their cuteness. Moreover, she likes to read and dig facts about cows, her absolute favorite animals.
