Introducing the Okeanos Pro: A New Era in Audio Mixing and Education
Ready for pre-orders for professional users, Okeanos Pro marks the debut of Brandenburg Labs’ cutting-edge headphone-based Okeanos Systems, a product line powered by the innovative Deep Dive Audio (DDA) technology. This advanced headphone system is designed to deliver an unparalleled listening experience for professionals, offering a versatile and high-quality solution, simplifying multichannel mixing by eliminating the need for traditional physical speaker setups. With Okeanos Pro, switching between different formats is effortless, requiring just a single click.
The product features up to 16 virtual loudspeakers that simulate real loudspeakers, fully immersing users in a rich audio environment. This groundbreaking technology provides Audio Engineers with the ability to experience their content as if they were surrounded by actual loudspeakers. Supporting all current available multichannel formats, switchable within seconds. The system integrates seamlessly with studio hardware via standard Audio over IP (AoIP) connectivity solutions, such as Dante and Ravenna.
The founder and CEO, Karlheinz Brandenburg, a world-renowned scientist and entrepreneur best known as the co-inventor of the groundbreaking MP3 format remarked, “From the early proof of concept, we put in a lot of work to make the system ready for actual usage. Now, we’ve made it and are beginning to sell our systems to studios and educational institutions worldwide. We will continue to improve the system, adding more features based on our customers’ needs.”
Successful Installation of Pilot Systems in Europe, with the USA set to follow
The inaugural pilot system has been successfully implemented at the PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hasselt, Belgium, and at SAE Institute Switzerland AG in Zurich, Switzerland. This pioneering technology is set to elevate educational experiences in immersive audio and provide a benchmark for research and development. Students and researchers at PXL University’s music department can now engage with advanced immersive audio via headphones through the Okeanos Pro, gaining hands-on experience in a cutting-edge environment.
Dr. Brecht De Man, Head of Research at PXL University remarked, “PXL-Music is pleased to have the first research lab equipped with the Okeanos Pro, now serving as a reference for convincing binaural audio in six degrees of freedom. Beyond the high-quality, neutral, and versatile engine, we especially like the unique feature of sampling and integrating the actual room’s acoustics.”
Mr. Lasse Nipkow, 3D audio lecturer at SAE Zurich, added: “The Okeanos Pro is a valuable tool for adequately assessing and improving 3D audio mixes. Due to its realistic playback capability, it increases students’ awareness of how our ears perceive sound and what effect the direction of the individual tracks in the mix has on the consumer.”
Brandenburg Labs looks forward to an ongoing partnership, working collaboratively to refine features and enhance the user experience to precisely meet customer needs.
