Jeramey Tyler is one of our Research Engineers who recently joined our R&D team. Jeramey earned his master’s degree in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2018. Initially focused on computer vision, he shifted his career trajectory to acoustics due to the oversaturation in the field of computer vision. With a strong foundation in machine learning and computer vision, he saw a greater opportunity to make a significant impact in acoustics. This shift has allowed him to combine his technical skills with his deep curiosity about sound, leading up to his recent research endeavors.
In 2023, Jeramey completed his Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. From his time as a teaching assistant at Indiana University Southeast to his role as a graduate research assistant, Jeramey brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team as a software engineer and researcher. His recent research involves auditory perceptual modeling and binaural spatial location.
Jeramey found his new role at Brandenburg Labs very exciting as it directly connects his work and his Ph.D. thesis, which allows him to dive deeper into his research interests and contribute meaningfully to the field. His interdisciplinary perspective encompassing cognitive science, computer science, data science, and acoustics enables him to approach problems from multiple angles. Moreover, Jeramey’s inquisitive nature drives him to ask questions and seek clarification, ensuring the utility and accuracy of his work.
Outside of his professional life, Jeramey enjoys DJing, cooking, and solving puzzles. These hobbies provide a creative outlet and a chance to unwind from his rigorous research activities. Looking ahead, Jeramey aspires to start his own company, develop an indie video game, and ultimately, make a meaningful impact on the world through his work. We are delighted to have Jeramey join our R&D team as we continue to push the boundaries of knowledge and discovery.
Fun fact: Jeramey has a perfect track record in chili cook-off competitions, having won 100% of the ones he has entered, though he has only competed once.
