Last week, Brandenburg Labs was honored to take part in the Tonmeistertagung (tmt32) event that was held in CCD Düsseldorf from the 8th to the 11th of November 2023.
Tonmeistertagung is known as “Europe’s leading conference and exhibition event for audio professionals”, bringing together an international community encompassing various fields, including audio, research, and development, as well as hardware and software production companies.
The event kicked off on a high note with an engaging keynote speech delivered by our CEO, Karlheinz Brandenburg, titled “The Spark – The Moment of Inspiration” during the opening ceremony. Prof. Brandenburg shared insights into the remarkable journey of MP3 and other audio coding formats, shedding light on the crucial role of our understanding of hearing and cognition.
In a breakthrough, research in Ilmenau has successfully achieved the creation of immersive audio experiences over headphones, marking years of dedicated work. He also introduced some futuristic applications like PARty, which our dedicated team is actively working to turn into a reality.
In recognition of his significant contributions to the audio industry, Karlheinz Brandenburg was awarded the Medal of Honor by the Verband Deutscher Tonmeister e.V. (VDT) during the ceremony. For more details, refer to the press release here.
Just last month, Prof. Brandenburg was also awarded the Digital Signal Processing Medal at the 2023 SMPTE Media Technology Submit in Hollywood, USA, showcasing global recognition for his transformative research in the audio industry! Read the press release here.
It is with great admiration that we congratulate Prof. Karlheinz Brandenburg for his remarkable achievements in the field. His unwavering dedication continues to shape the future of audio technology, and we are privileged to have him as our CEO.
Moreover, our team welcomed several visitors who were eager to listen to our immersive audio demo at the event. Our lifelike immersive audio demo is a fully virtual and dynamic doppelganger of a real pair of stereo speakers, auralized over headphones, which could be switched live to their real counterparts. We deeply appreciated the positive compliments and constructive feedback we received regarding our demo during the event. The insights shared by visitors contribute significantly to our ongoing efforts in the advancement of our technology.
Additionally, we would like to express our gratitude to the Verband Deutscher Tonmeister e.V. (VDT) for acknowledging Prof. Brandenburg’s years of research and invaluable contributions to the field and organizing such a wonderful event to connect like-minded individuals.
