Seven Years of Brandenburg Labs

Seven years ago, Brandenburg Labs was founded in Ilmenau with the goal of turning decades of audio research into new ways of experiencing sound. Since 2019, our work has grown from research and early technology development into products, international collaborations and new approaches to spatial and personalized audio.

One of the major milestones along the way has been Okeanos Pro, our professional solution for spatial audio monitoring over headphones. Bringing the technology to market has allowed us to move from research environments into real-world production workflows and to exchange ideas with audio professionals, researchers and partners around the world.

Over the past seven years, our work has taken us to international conferences, trade shows and technology events, while continuing our close connection to Ilmenau and the research environment from which Brandenburg Labs emerged. Along the way, our technologies and ideas have received international recognition and provided us with valuable feedback from the audio community.

At the same time, our research continues beyond the technologies available today. With Personalized Auditory Reality, we are exploring how future audio systems can create increasingly natural and individualized listening experiences by taking both the listener and their surroundings into account.

Seven years of Brandenburg Labs mark more than an anniversary. They reflect years of research, development, collaboration and learning, while pointing toward our vision of lifelike audio for a more human world.
